True Botanicals Founder Hillary Peterson is Cleaning Up the Beauty Industry
#245 • #CleanBeauty: True Botanicals founder and mother of three Hillary Peterson joins us in studio for a heart-to-heart about raising a family while nurturing ambitions and the importance of educating ourselves about what dangers lurk in our skincare products.
Shortly after becoming a mother of twins Hillary was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. The experience awakened her passion for non-toxic living. Alarmed by the chemicals in leading skincare brands, she spent eight years researching a solution, which in turn became her award-winning, eco-friendly clean beauty line True Botanicals, embraced by Olivia Wilde, Laura Dern, and Zazie Beetz.
In this relaxed and warm conversation, we talk about how each of our major health crises led to vipassana meditation retreats (and laugh about what happened once we got there), confess to our guilt-ridden working mom habits, and agree that I will take the 30-something rite of passage and finally try a "face oil".

About Our Guest: Hillary Peterson
Hillary Peterson is Founder and President of True Botanicals. Look at her professional life and you'll quickly see that she’s constantly been pretty serious about fashion and beauty. That enthusiasm, however, took a shift when she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and melanoma. That’s when she took a closer look her most beloved personal products only to realize that they all had one thing in common: their ingredients contained toxins. Understanding that what goes on your skin goes into your body, she threw herself into an eight year study of botanicals and their healing powers, consulting with the world’s leading green chemists and sustainability experts. Her ultimate goal being to formulate transformative skincare products that wouldn’t compromise peoples’ health or the environment. That line ultimately became True Botanicals. It’s rule-breaking approach to luxury skin care and ability to bring together superior results and safety has earned it ELLE magazine’s coveted Genius award and placement at Barneys as well as several of the world’s top spas.
Before finding her perfect job, Hillary held the position of Sr. Advertising Manager for the 501 and the Women’s Jeans brands as well as Retail Marketing Manager for the Levi’s brand at Levi Strauss and Co. Hillary lives in Mill Valley, California with her husband and three children.

#230 - With 4.7 million Youtube followers and credits including Trolls and Wreck It Ralph 2, The Queen of Youtube GloZell Green has done it all, including a sit down interview with President Barack Obama at The White House.
In this live episode in front of an audience of diehard GloZell fans, we discuss everything from screen-time (how does a Youtube star manage to get an iPad away from her toddler?) to the harsh realities of becoming a first-time mother at forty-four. We dispel the myth of the "overnight sensation" and share her secrets to longevity as a content creator. Since this podcast is a live recording straight from the world's largest beauty convention Beautycon and hosted by our friends at The Jane Club, we had to get the inside scoop on GloZell's signature look: green lipstick. After all, when she went to the White House, she gave three tubes of the same green lipstick to President Obama to give to Michelle and their daughters who happen to be huge fans as well.
We also chat with supermom Sonni Abatta, news anchor turned blogger and podcaster about how she looks so damn refreshed even after having three kids in five years! We're talking about skincare, makeup, and flirting with Botox.
